Jonty Hall has been a part of the Canberra music scene in one way or another for the past fifteen years. Starting out as a choral singer, he took up trumpet at age ten and has now played for twelve years, including the last four years professionally. These days, Jonty plays in lots of different settings in Canberra and interstate, including a variety of local small jazz groups and big bands, with fusion projects, and alongside many of Canberra's top DJs, including Frank Madrid, Ashley Feraude, and Mario Gordon.
Jonty is a graduate of the ANU School of Music's Jazz Department. His jazz group, Jonty Hall Ensemble, plays standards and original music, and consists of an often changing line-up of musicians, which allows for a distinctive and diverse range of sounds and interpretations.
He has become an integral part of FAMA, bringing his unique and youthful perspective to the operation. His eye for "coolness" has been instrumental in the success of many of the projects that the company has produced including the Music + Arts + Food series, Urban Latino and URBANice.
